Fire breaks out at Taj hotel

A fire broke out in the Taj Mahal hotel here, the target of the terrorist attack less than two weeks ago, creating a scare early in the morning but it was quickly put out.
Fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene of the fire, believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, and put out the blaze quickly.
An official statement from the Taj Hotel said the fire near an unused kitchen of the 20th floor was detected by the hotel’s maintenance staff at 7.15 am today.
The situation was under control by 8.15 am, it added.
The hotel was the scene of massive fires set off by terrorists who exploded grenades when the security forces battled them during the flushing out operation.
