Govt initiates process for Expressway Network

The guidelines on the geometric design standards for the expressways have also been formulated and the same has been forwarded to the State government for their views. The Minister requested states to urgently go through the plan and forward their comments and suggestions in this regard.

With many State governments taking up constructions of expressways on their own,  the centre had requested the Planning Commission in March 2008 for consideration of formulation of a National Policy for construction of expressways so as to ensure a coordinated development of expressway network in the country that will interlink and complement the massive National Highway Development Programme (NHDP) currently under implementation.
