Govt refers lock-in period proposal to Trai

Facing criticism over stake sale to foreign partners by new telecom players within days of acquiring spectrum, the government has referred a three-year lock-in period proposal, which bars the promoters from selling equity, to Trai as it may involve amendment in licence. “I have sent the matter to Trai as it may involve changes in the licence conditions,” Telecom Minister A Raja said on Tuesday.
