Gowda to hold talks with Left leaders on post-poll strategy

Press Trust of India New Delhi

JD(S) chief Deve Gowda, whose party is a member of the Third Front, will hold consultations with leaders of Left parties on post-poll strategy on May 17, but will not attend a meeting of the grouping the following day as he would be going to Tirupati.

Gowda will meet leaders of all the four Left parties — CPI(M), CPI, Forward Bloc and RSP — on May 17, a day after the Lok Sabha results are out, JD(S) spokesman Danish Ali told PTI.

"Since May 18 is Gowda's birthday he will be going to Tirupati to offer prayers as it is his usual practice," he said.

Ali said he will represent JD(S) at the meeting of Third Front leaders on May 18 and will be here for consultations with Left parties.

The JD(S) leader said the party has communicated this to Left leaders and they have given the green signal.
