IISc signs MoU with Belgium's IMEC

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Belgium-based research institute, IMEC, for research in nanoelectronics, nanotechnology and other cutting edge areas.
 
According to IISc Director P Balaram, a research facility for nanoelectronics and nanotechnology will be set up as part of the collaboration.
 
It will also focus on new material for 45-nanometre complementary metal"�oxide"�semiconductor (CMOS-a major class of integrated circuits) technology and on radio frequency.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Belgium Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt termed the new initiatives as an enormous step forward in cooperation between the two countries in the semiconductor technologies area.
 
This is the second MoU inked by IMEC in India. On Sunday, it announced its partnership with SemIndia for the proposed 'Fab City' project in Hyderabad.
