Joint survey for Hubli airport expansion

Our Correspondent Chennai/ Hubli
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) and revenue department will conduct a joint survey in Hubli from June 8 to 10 to ascertain the extent of land needed for the proposed expansion of Hubli Airport.

A three-member team of senior officials attached to AAI including S Biswas, I N S Murthy and M N N Rao will arrive in Hubli on June 8 to conduct the survey.

Dharwad North MP Prahlad Joshi said the survey is a follow up of the discussion he and revenue minister Jagadeesh Shettar had with AAI's Southern India regional director Ramalingam during the latter's visit to Hubli recently.

They had discussed about the implementation of the master plan to upgrade the airport.

Jagadeesh Shettar responding to the demand from AAI for more land to execute the master plan, has promised on behalf of the state government to provide 386.6 acres of land.

Accordingly a joint survey is being held, Joshi said. The AAI needs two years after taking possession of the land to complete the execution of the master plan.
