Land allotted for industrial estates for women

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad
The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 90 acres of land in three different areas in Medak district for the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE), a city-based non-profit business organisation, to set up exclusive industrial estates for women.

Inaugurating COWE's maiden trade exhibition here on Friday, major industries minister J Geeta Reddy handed over the allotment letter to COWE.

An equal extent of 30 acres of land was allotted in the Automobile Park in Toopran mandal, in the Biotechnology Park at Karakapatla village and in Kucharam Village.

The minister said that 10 per cent of land in all the 172 industrial parks located across the state would henceforth be reserved for business women. "It is upto them (women) to utilise this opportunity," she said.

COWE's trade carnival is being organised with the support from the Andhra Pradesh government. About 180 exhibitors are taking part in the event.
