Milma milk to cost more

BS Reporter Chennai/ Thiruvananthapuram

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) on Monday recommended to the state government to hike the prices of milk packaged and marketed by the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) by Re 1 per litre. With this, the Milma milk will now cost Rs 20 a litre.

The Left Front, after meeting here today, said though the Milma board initially had mooted a Rs 2 hike per litre of milk, it was decided to go for an increase of Re 1.

Meanwhile, Milma, which had recommended a Rs 2 hike per litre, welcomed the LDF decision. The price hike has come about as necessary considering various factors such as rising cattle feed prices, it said.
