Mseb Affidavit Bares Grim Power Scene

The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) has more or less admitted that the power scenario in the state is appalling.

Asoke Basak, chairman, MSEB, in an affidavit filed before the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court, has said that the gap between power supply and peak demand has reached 2,300 mw forcing the board to undertake massive load shedding across the state.

The affidavit was presented before a division bench consisting of justices J N Patel and S G Mahajan, which is hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Grahak Panchayat.

Though silent on the proposed Mauda thermal power project of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) near here, the affidavit clearly underscores MSEB
