Mysore Urban body launch Rs 100 cr works

A windfall of projects and schemes await Mysoreans when Chief Minister D S Sadananda Gowda inaugurates a ‘Fair of Government Benefits’ on Saturday.

These comprise Rs 71.49 crore worth of schemes which the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) proposes to take up. He will lay foundation stone for Rs 26.3 crore works.

Besides these, he will lay foundation stone for Rs 14.66 crore Ambedkar Bhavan at the Nallappa Thana Pol-ice station premises in Dewan’s Road, Rs 4.50 crore Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan at Paduvarahalli and Rs 4.92 crore Valmiki Bhavan in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, woth in all Rs 24.08.

He will inaugurate Rs 2.76 crore stadium newly-built by MUDA in Vijayanagar first stage. The works to be inaugurated include, according to MUDA Chairman L Nagendra, improvement of some selected major roads in the city and development works in two villages in Nanjangud taluk. Similarly, another important link road in this area from Premier Studios, near Hunsur Road, up to New Kantharaja Urs Road will be widened at Rs 3.1 crore.

 

These parallel roads link major routes in the expanded city and are witnessing increasing vehicular traffic of late. A few other proposed works of the MUDA will be formally announced by Gowda. Widening the road linking the outer ring road from Nimra Mosque north in Devanur first stage extension (Rs 80 lakh), construction of An underground drainage and improvement of roads in Nehru Nagar Ashraya extension (Rs 82 lakh), improvements to Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Circle in Kanakadasa Nagar and Sharada Devi Nagar circle in Bogadi extension (Rs 2 crore each) and Rs 1.88 crore works in Ashraya extension of Bogadi village are among them.

Creation of ‘Auto Nagar’ |on 5.18 acres in Bandipalya and Nachanahalli is also slated to be taken in the first phase as part of the four such ‘Auto Nagars’ proposed in four different parts of the city, he said.
