Naya Raipur to have Rashtriya Military School

The sixth Rashtriya Military School (RMS)—an establishment of ministry of defence—would be opened in the new capital of Chhattisgarh.
The state government had allotted 50 acres of land to the ministry of defence for establishing the school in the Naya Raipur—the new capital of Chhattisgarh. The school is stipulated to start from the academic session 2013-14.
“This would be the sixth school in the chain of RMSs located across the country,” senior army official Colonel Sanjay Sharma said. The infrastructure development work will start soon after getting the possession on the land, he added.
Besides Chail in Himachal Pradesh, Rashtriya Military Schools are located in Ajmer (Rajasthan), Belgaum (Karnataka), Bangalore (Karnataka) and Dholpur (Rajasthan). The fully residential public school will be affiliated to the CBSE and have classes from V to XII.
According to senior army officials, the school was proposed to be set up in the state of Orissa. Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt, however, took keen interest to retain the project in the state.
