Next budget to have pro-farmer programmes

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said the next budget to be presented by him in February will have pro-farmer schemes on priority.
Speaking after inaugurating the cattle market yard constructed by the Hubli Agriculture Market Produce Committee (APMC) at Noolvi village in Hubli taluk on Sunday, he said, he would seek more funds from the Centre for agriculture sector and would apprise the Prime Minister about the need at the National Development Council meeting scheduled for next week at New Delhi.
The government is committed to develop the APMCs in the state and had taken steps to introduce e-tendering, he added.
The government has chalked out a programme to construct about 300 warehouses in the state of which 200 have already been constructed.
The chief minister said that the government had not let down the farmers and waiving of cooperative loans upto Rs 25,000 was an indication of government’s concern towards farmers, he asserted.
