Panel wants DGCA to be sole regulator

The MK Kaw Committee to review operations of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suggested making it an economic regulator for the entire sector.

"There is no need to create a plethora of regulatory agencies in the field of civil aviation. The DGCA should be notified as the sole apex body for safety and economic regulation of the sector. It should also act as a catalyst for the growth of the manufacturing sector," the committee has recommended.
