Policeman Among 11 Killed In Bodo Violence

In the continuing violence in Assam, 11 persons, including seven Bodo Liberation Tiger (BLT) extremists, have been killed in two different incidents during the last 15 hours even as police apprehended three BLT militants during the period.
Police yesterday said that the BLT militants, including one of its commanders, along with a police constable besides another person, were gunned down by their opponent Bodo Security Force (BdSF) guerrillas late on Sunday night at Moukhuli village under Barama police station of Nalbari district.The BdSF activists swooped on the house of one Lalu Boro and surrounded it before entering and opening indiscriminate fire while the inmates were celebrating `Bihu (local festival) by gambling and drinking.
The dead have been identified as Gokul Basumatary, BLT commander of Nalbari side, involved in killing of Bodo Womens Welfare activist Golapi Basumatary, besides, Prasanta Boro, Haren Boro, Madhu Boro, Sunilal Basumatary, Basen Deuri, Kasan Boro (all BLT), Mahanta Boro, an SSB constable and Anil Boro, an electrical lineman.
