Prof arrested for mailing cartoon critical of Mamata

Ambikesh Mahapatra, a professor at Jadavpur University’s department of chemistry, was arrested last night by the police on a cyber crime charge; he was released on bail today. His crime was to pass on a cartoon critical of chief minister Mamata Banerjee through email to others. He was charged under the section dealing with defamatory acts committed against high state functionaries while they discharged their public function) and under the IT Act.
