Rajkot Machine Tools Show 2006 kicks-off

BS Reporter Mumbai/ Rajkot
Rajkot Machine Tools Show (RMTS) 2006, the three-day exhibition that will be on till November 19 kicks off on Thursday. It will be organised jointly by the Machine Tools Manufacturer Association (MTMA) and K & D Communications, Ahmedabad.

RMTS 2006 will showcase a range of products manufactured by 300 industrial participants, from across the world which includes some leading industry icons from developed countries like USA, UK, Japan, China and other countries.

The industrial exhibition has been integrated in six theme pavilions and includes CNC machines and special purpose machines, machine tools, hand tools, cutting tools, power tools and testing instruments, pumps, valves, hydraulic, pneumatic compressor, chemical and pharmaceutical machines, electrical & electronics instruments, machine tools and automation and Rajkot Machine Tools pavilion.

Rupesh Mehta, President-MTMA told Business Standard that the objectives of the show in Rajkot said, "Indian Machine Tools Industry is experiencing boom time as Calendar Year 2005 registered production of 7,507 machine tools in NC and Non-NC category estimating value worth Rs.16,805.152 Million, as against 7,303 machines manufactured in both categories estimating value worth Rs 14,772.155 in 2004."

"So if considered in terms of growth, 13.762 per cent Year-on-Year (YoY) growth is registered as far as business volumes are considered, whereas 3 per cent YoY growth is registered in terms of production on calendar year basis, as a result Indian Machine Tools industry is gaining momentum and why should Rajkot be left behind with its core strength in Machine Tools Manufacturing segment, so this is one reason we organised RMTS 2006, to let the buyers and sellers interact on one single trade platform, when the industry is booming," he added.

Exports of Indian Machine Tools has grown from 219 machines exported in calendar year 2004 to 258 machines exported in calendar 2005 as against which imports of machine tools has also increased phenomenally with 12,667 machines imported in 2004 and 17,580 machines imported in calendar year 2005, but Rajkot has a very meagre stake in this pie.

With the objective to let the visitors of RMTS 2006 even witness the manufacturing strength of Rajkot and place orders with us from domestic and international circuit, we have organised this event, adds Bhanderi.

RMTS 2006 also has finance institutes exhibiting their products, specifically the Small Medium Enterprise (SME) funding schemes, to facilitate the financial assistance from nationalised banks and other such industrial banks.

The event is likely to witness visitor rush of approximately 2 lakh 50 thousand visitors in three days with an estimated and tentative business materialisation valuing worth Rs 40-50 crore as there are some global players like Haas from USA, Mitutoyo from Japan, Rensaw from UK, and SKF from Sweden are also exhibiting their products, explained Rupesh Mehta.
