RIL official Sandeep Tandon passes away

Sandeep Tandon, a top official of , passed away this morning after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Tandon was 60. He is survived by his wife Anu Tandon, Congress MP from Unnao, and sons Sachin and Shalin.

A former Revenue Service officer, Tandon advised Mukesh Ambani-led RIL on taxation and liasion matters after leaving the Enforcement Directorate.

He was in the US for treatment of blood cancer when the end came, industry sources said.

Tandon has been a close associate of Mukesh Ambani for over two decades and played a crucial role in overseeing the division of the Reliance empire between Mukesh and Anil Ambani.

He was heading four companies - Reliance Energy Ventures, Reliance Capital Ventures, Reliance Communication Ventures and Reliance Natural Resources - that were handed over to Anil Ambani group after the split.
