Rs 43cr Worth Of Property Attached In Jaya Case

Thirty-nine items of property, totally worth about Rs 43 crore, belonging to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha and her associates were attached by a court here yesterday.
According to an official press release, the chief judge, court of small causes, I David Christian, ordered the interim attachment based on a petition by the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) in connection with the case against miss Jayalalitha for alleged possession of assets disproportionate to her known income.
The release, which gave no details, said the assets were in the name of Jayalalitha and her benamis, Sasikala Natarajan, V N Sudhakaran and J Ilavarasi.
Sudhakaran, a nephew of Sasikala, is the now-disowned foster son of Jayalalitha, while Ilavarasi is Sasikalas sister-in-law. Along with Jayalalitha, the three have been charged with entering into a criminal conspiracy to amass wealth between 1991 and 1996 by misusing the chief ministers office.Meanwhile, the principal sessions judge, A Ramamoorthy, yesterday gave permission to the DVAC for questioning Sasikala in custody for three more days from today. She has already been interrogated for three days till yesterday.
