Tata Power lines up Rs 19,200 crore for more units

| Tata Power Supply Company Ltd plans to add 4,800 Mw of thermal generation capacity with an investment of around Rs 19,200 crore. |
| The company is considering setting up a 1,000-Mw plant in the northern region, and two more plants of 1,000 Mw each and a 500-Mw plant in Maharashtra. |
| The company may also set up a project in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and a captive power plant for Tata Steel in the east. The company also plans to set up its first overseas project in South Africa. |
| "We are also planning to bid for a 300-Mw greenfield power project in South Africa," Tata Power Supply Company Executive Director S Ramakrishnan said. |
| The South African project will require an investment of Rs 1,200 crore. |
