Township planned near Pune

BS Reporter Mumbai/ Pune
First project to be developed under new Township Development Policy.

The first completely integrated township under the recently announced Township Development Policy of the government is being developed by City Corporation Limited at Pune's eastern suburb of Hadapsar.

The Rs 3,000 crore Amanora Park Town - coming up over a land mass of 400 acres - will be fully commissioned over the next six years and will have a population of approximately 60,000 people, City Corporation managing director Aniruddha Deshpande told Business Standard.

Deshpande said the project will have an entire set of basic infrastructure such as uninterrupted water and power supply, hospitals, banking facilities, schools and shopping centres.

"We are discussing with the Ministry of Railways to have our own railway service which will use the tracks of Pune Division of Indian Railways," Deshpande said.

Deshpande said the township policy of the state envisages that the projects being built under the policy are run on the lines of municipal corporations in the country.

The management of Amanora Park Town will therefore be vested with the company and there won't be any co-operative societies formed by the residents, he said.

The project will have a mix of dwellings including high rise apartment buildings, low-income, mid-income and high-income group houses as laid down by the policy and a variety of commercial and other establishments.

"All of the 52 clearances needed for the project have been obtained and the construction work has started for 10 high rise buildings and a commercial block," Deshpande informed. "The project will have a 30-storey commercial building Signature Towers which will be Maharashtra's tallest building, he said.

Deshpande said the company has signed arrangements with the Pune Municipal Corporation as well as the state's irrigation department for supply of water for the township and is in the process of finalising with power companies the deals for continuous power supply.

"We may suggest setting up of a special purpose vehicle company for generating power for the township to ensure uninterrupted supply," Deshpande added.

The project has been designed by Singapore-based architects' firm P&T Consultants and the company has retained Intel Corp for the technology inputs to make Amanora Town a digital city, he said.
