WB transport minister Subhas Chakraborty passes away

Ailing West Bengal minister for transport and sports, Subhas Chakraborty passed away today at 11.40 am at a private hospital in the city.
Chakraborty, a senior CPI(M) leader and close to party patriarch Jyoti Basu, was ill for some time and was hospitalised on July 27 with pneumonitis and low blood platelet count.
The minister was yesterday put on a ventilator. Sources said he was also been put on dialysis due to low urine output.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Left Front chairman Biman Bose and other party leaders visited the ailing minister at the hospital this morning.
