BJD borrowed schemes from Chhatisgarh govt: BJP
The BJP government in Chhattisgarh also has a separate Food Security Act since 2012

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has stolen ideas and schemes from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled government in Chhattisgarh to present its manifesto, state unit leaders of the saffron party said here.
"It seems to me that this is a borrowed manifesto of the BJD. The reference of food security scheme has been taken from the Chhattisgarh government, which provides cheap rice, dal and salt for free to poor people," said Sajjan Kumar Sharma, state spokesperson for BJP.
In its manifesto released last Saturday, the ruling BJD has claimed that it will pass a Food Security Act even as such an Act has been passed by the centre.
The BJP government in Chhattisgarh also has a separate Food Security Act since 2012. The Act states that the entitlements shall be on household basis as opposed to the provision in the Central Act for providing foodgrains per person .
The BJD has also talked about converting any village with a minimum population of 1,000 to a gram panchayat in a phased manner to improve local governance and services, and declared more facilities for panchayat offices in its poll promise document.
"This idea has also been taken from Chhattisgarh," said Sharma.
The election manifesto of BJD has promised formulation of Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojna, which will cover villages with population less than 100. The BJP said, this is in line with the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana framed during BJP led NDA reign at the Centre.Observers said the biggest promise in the manifesto of BJD was 'Pucca houses for all' as they think this scheme alone could be a game changer for the vast rural population of the state. The BJP leaders, were however, not impressed.
"The promise may grab headlines, but people of Odisha know very well what is the Naveen Patnaik-led government is capable of doing. Biju Patnaik had lost the elections by promising tile houses for each family. I do not think this will be a game changer," said Sharma.
"Since the BJD government could not fulfill promises, now it is talking about guarantees to win the votes", he added.
The BJP would release its manifesto for Odisha within a couple days for state polls, the party leader said.
