Canara Bank biz crosses Rs 2 lakh cr

Bangalore-based Canara Bank has seen its global business cross the Rs 2 lakh crore mark.

In the first quarter of this fiscal the bank's total business aggregated around Rs 2,01,600 crore. This includes Rs 1,22,900 crore (provisional) under deposits and Rs 78,700 crore (provisional) under advances.

The achievement coincides with the bank completing 100 years of operation on June 30. For financial year-ending March 30, 2006 Canara Bank was ranked number one among nationalised banks under aggregate business.

The bank hopes to see an aggregate business of Rs Rs 2,33,000 crore at the end of the present financial year.
