Credit delivery in focus

 The focus of this policy is on the credit delivery and it highlights the need to improve the flow of credit to the under-served sectors such as rural, agriculture, small scale and micro-finance. This is laudable and highly desirable.

 The policy has recognised the efficiencies that have been created by the use of technology and innovative delivery mechanisms and strengthens this trend by encouraging banks to undertake more such initiatives.

 While such efficient delivery of financial services to the rural economy will benefit the rural customer and open up newer channels of credit delivery for banks, the usage of innovative methods will also have a salutary impact on intermediation costs.

 The desire of the RBI to introduce more transparency on the prime lending rate front is clearly in the consumer
