Forex reserves zoom past $150bn

Foreign exchange reserves increased $2.960 billion to $151.622 billion for the week ended March 31, 2006, according to the weekly supplement released by the RBI on Friday.

Foreign currency assets increased $2.949 billion to $145.108 billion. While gold reserves increased $8 million to $5.755 million, SDRs were unchanged at $3 million. The Reserve Position with the IMF moved up $3 million to $756 million.
