GUBCBF's 'Flood IT' benefits over 2.5 lakh students in Gujarat

Launched by Gujarat Urban Bank Co-operative Banks Federation (GUBCBF) on February 10, 2009, the 'Flood IT' initiative has been able to benefit around 2.5 lakh students within six months in Gujarat. The scheme, which provide 70 per cent loan for purchasing computers without any interest, is aimed at giving global competitive edge to students in the state.
Talking about the scheme, Jyotindra Mehta, chairman of the Gujarat Urban Bank Co-operative Banks Federation said, "The ‘Flood IT’ project has achieved remarkable success in a very limited span. Around 145 banks and 100 other organisations have participated in the scheme. More than 600 branches of various banks have extended loans to customers under the scheme and Intel has provided benefit of this 'knowledge revolution' to the people in the remote villages by distributing computers through millennium vehicle."
