ICICI Bank opens Johannesburg office

ICICI Bank has opened an office in the South African city of Johannesburg to capitalise on India's growing ties with African countries.

ICICI Bank will use the Johannesburg office to co-ordinate its trade finance operations in Africa, previously run from India, according to trade officials at the Indian consulate here.

The bank is also seeking permission for opening a representative office in Kenya, they added.

ICICI would also investigate the possibility of applying for a banking licence, the officials said.
