BS Reporter Kolkata
Under its "Industry-Academia Partnership" programme, ICICI Bank is in discussions with three leading universities of the West Bengal to launch banking and insurance courses.

While the proposal to start the course with Calcutta University had been more or less approved, the dialogue was on with Burdwan University, said K V Kamath, managing director and CEO, ICICI Bank on the sidelines of a seminar on entrepreneurship development in Kolkata on Friday.

The bank was also in discussions with Jadavpur University to roll-out similar courses.

As a part of the partnership programme, the bank had tie-ups with various universities across the country for industry-specific banking and insurance courses. The bank had already launched such courses with Manipal University and the Delhi University among others.

Earlier, speaking at the seminar, Kamath said, West Bengal had chosen the path of growth.

While few years ago, West Bengal led India in the agriculture front, in the coming years, it would challenge the IT industries of other states advanced in the sector.
