Outlook
The rupee is expected to open between 45.77/83 against the greenback on Monday.

Sentiment: Bullish

The rupee opened at 45.85/86 per dollar and ended higher at 45.80/81.

Premiums on forward dollars softened. Annualised premiums on six-month and one-year dollars closed at 2.41 per cent and 2.07 per cent respectively.

Money market

Sentiment: Bullish

Government securities prices slid on the announcement of a Rs 6,000 crore auction.

Prices of long- and medium-term securities fell 50-60 paise, while those of short-term gilts lost 20-30 paise.

Yield on 7.38 per cent 2015 gilt closed at 6.59 per cent, while that on 7.37 per cent 2014 paper ended at 6.63 per cent.

Outstanding liquidity in the banking system shot up to Rs 18,000 crore.
