Re, gilts slip midst dull sentiment

The rupee is expected to open in the range of 45.38-43 per dollar on Thursday.

Sentiment: Dull

• The rupee opened at 45.33/36 per dollar and closed lower at 45.40/41 on interbank buying of dollars to meet month-end corporate demand.
• Discounts on forward dollars narrowed on importer demand.

Money market

Sentiment: Dull

• Government security prices slid on lack of triggers in the market.
• Prices of long-term securities fell by 10-15 paise, while those of medium-term gilts lost 5-7 paise.
• The yield on the ten-year benchmark paper, 7.37 per cent 2014, closed at 5.19 per cent.
• Call money rates ruled in the range of 4.00-4.25 per cent.
• Subscriptions at the repo window stood at Rs 10,195 crore.
