SBI launches City Affinity Card in Ahmedabad

SBI Cards, one of the fastest growing credit card companies with over 14,00,000 cards issued so far, on Tuesday launched Ahmedabad's own City Affinity Card (CAC), the SBI Ahmedabad Card.

With the launch of the new SBI Ahmedabad Card, SBI has so far introduced six such CAC in the last two years.

The SBI Ahmedabad Card is loaded with special features and benefits customised for the people dwelling in the business capital of Gujarat.

"We have five existing affinity cards which are the SBI Mumbai Card, SBI Kolkata Card, SBI Delhi Card, SBI Bangalore Card and SBI Hyderabad Card. The existing city affinity cards have given us a very encouraging response with significantly higher new card volumes and spends," Roopam Asthana, chief executive officer, SBI Cards, said on Tuesday.

The card will be marketed in Ahmedabad from this week itself through SBI Cards and also through branches of State Bank of India (SBI) and its subsidiary banks, operating in Gujarat. The card captures the spirit of Ahmedabad with a striking visual of the Nehru Bridge, one of the city's most prominent landmarks, along with the skyline of Ahmedabad in the backdrop.

"This international credit card offering unique benefits to citizens of Ahmedabad ranging from special discounts, exclusive travel to holiday offers as well as exclusive invitations to special events in the city. The SBI Ahmedabad Card will not only provide all benefits of other SBI Cards but also will bring in exclusive offers for Ahmedabadis and this card will remain exclusive for the living here," said Asthana.

The card will also be loaded with 'The Triple Advantage' rewards programme where customers can redeem their points for fees or get discounts on leading brands or get attractive gifts. Moreover the SBI Ahmedabad Card comes with the special low interest installment loan programme called Flexipay.

"Designed to appeal to a broad-based target audience, the SBI Ahmedabad Card features a wide range of exciting global and city-specific benefits. Besides special discounts ranging from 10 percent to 30 percent across different categories of merchants in Ahmedabad including restaurants, garments, automobiles, music, books, electronic items, chemists, jewellery and health centres and SBI Ahmedabad Card customers also will be able to avail exclusive travel and holiday offers around India along with special offers on air travel," said the CEO, SBI Cards, commenting on the new product launch.

Cardholders will also have exclusive access to events, movie shows and other festive promotions in Ahmedabad and the card will also bring purchase protection facility for the cardholders.

As SBI Cards is tied-up strategically with Indian Oil Corporation and Indo-Burma Petroleum, all transactions in the retail outlets of IOCL and IBP will not attract any transaction surcharges for the SBI Ahmedabad Card holders.
