ICWAI national meet from today

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad
The southern regional council of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI), jointly with Hyderabad chapter of Cost Accountants, is organising the 48th national cost convention in Hyderabad from January 18.

The theme of the three-day convention is 'Accelerating economic growth: Unlocking value by management accountants'.

"The Indian economy has witnessed a sea change in the past one decade and is growing strongly with several sectors reporting accelerated growth. Sectors such as retail, telecom, urban infrastructure, IT and ITeS and biotechnology are growing at much faster pace. The conference will lay down the broad framework of the sector-specific issues and highlight the integration of the management accountant in the above process. This will also enable the management accounting profession to lay down a road map for developing skills, knowledge and competencies in tune with the user requirements," ICWAI president Dhananjay V Joshi, told mediapersons here on Tuesday.

The convention, being organised for the first time in Hyderabad, will have four sub themes 'IT: Creating a launch pad for future growth', 'ITeS: Growth through business excellence', 'Retail industry: Growth through value creation and innovation', and 'Biotechnology: Whipping up of creamy layer'.

As a prelude to the national convention, a student convention and practitioners' convention are being organised on January 17.

The theme for the practitioners' convention is 'Emerging trends in management accounting services towards value enhancement' while it is 'The next-gen cost management professional (CMP)' for the students' convention.
