Manipal, IIBF ink MoU

BS Reporter Chennai/ Bangalore
The Bangalore-based Manipal Education Group today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) to start a diploma course in banking and finance.

The course, targeted at graduates from any academic stream, will be a distance learning course and students will be provided with the course material, e-learning support and contact classes.

Likely to be priced at Rs 5,000 for the whole course, this is a self-paced course. Exams will be held twice and year, and students can decide when they want to take the exam.

The course will also be targeted at IT professionals as statistics show that nearly 20 per cent of the employees in IT companies are banking professionals. The diploma will be awarded by IIBF.

"In today's banking scenario, one needs a lot more specialisation and this is what the course has to offer. We believe we will be creating industry-ready professionals through this course. Since this is a distance learning course we hope to reach every nook and corner of the country," Manipal Education Group president Anand Sudarshan said.

The exams for the course will be held offline and online. Admissions to the course will start in the next few weeks.
