Ashok Leyland in top gear on higher sales

| Ashok Leyland moved up 4.4 per cent to Rs 56.40 on reports that the company sold 6,340 vehicles in December 2007, up 8 per cent from 5,873 units a year earlier. |
| The company's domestic sales rose 2 per cent to 5,488 units in December 2007 from 5,396 units in December 2006. Exports rose to 852 units in December 2007 from 477 units December 2006. |
| The scrip had outperformed the market in the one month till 4 January 2008, adding 5.78 per cent as against the Sensex's rise of 4.50 per cent. |
