Barley futures down on profit booking

Barley prices fell by 12.40 to Rs 1,377 per quintal in futures trade today on profit booking by speculators at prevailing high levels, amid a weak domestic trend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for delivery in July fell by Rs 12.40, or 0.89%, to Rs 1,377 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,360 lots.
June barley shed Rs 1.60, or 0.12%, to Rs 1,370.80 per quintal, with a business turnover of 9,600 lots.
Market analysts said apart from profit taking, weak spot market trend mainly led to fall in barley futures prices.
