Cautious importers, supply glut keep pepper prices down

While most importers, including the US, have adopted a passive buying strategy, Vietnam, the largest producer in the world, slashed prices furtherto attract overseas buyers, but in vain. Vietnamese exporters are now offering 500 GL grade for $2,800 a tonne and 550 GL at $2,960. The Asta variety is being offered at a price tag of $3,220.
