Jeera futures down on sluggish demand

Jeera futures prices jeera prices fell by Rs 129, or 1 per cent, to Rs 12,730 per quintal today, as speculators reduced their positions, driven by a weak trend at spot markets.
Fresh arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on the prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for delivery in October fell by Rs 129, or 1 per cent to Rs 12,730 per quintal, with an open interest of 942 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in November declined by Rs 92, or 0.70 per cent, to Rs 12,973 per quintal, with a business turnover of 13,017 lots.
Analysts said sluggish demand against fresh arrivals in the physical markets, mainly led to a fall in jeera futures prices.
