Jeera futures falls on profit booking

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Jeera prices fell by Rs 81 or 0.59 per cent to Rs 13,577 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators indulged in booking profits, amid weak exports demand.

However, depleting stock supplies in spot market, restricted losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in December fell by Rs 81, or 0.59 per cent to Rs 13,577 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,207 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January declined by Rs 69, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 13,969 per quintal, with a business turnover of 3,188 lots, while delivery in February contract declined by Rs 63, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 14,260 per quintal.

Analysts said profit-booking by speculators and weak exports led to a decline in jeera prices but restricted stocks in spot markets, restricted losses.
