Jeera futures up 0.38% on spot demand

Jeera futures prices shot up by Rs 50, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 13,044 per quintal today, as speculators and traders enlarged their positions, led by pick up in demand at the spot market due to the ongoing festive season.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for delivery in November shot up by Rs 50, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 13,044 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,891 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in December rose by Rs 43, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 13,242 per quintal, clocking in an open trade of 10,239 lots.
The spice for delivery in October gained Rs 28,or 0.22 per cent to Rs 12,810 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,154 lots.
Analysts said firm spot demand, driven by ongoing festive and marriage season, mainly supported the rise in jeera futures prices.
