Maize eases on reduced offtake

In restricted activity, maize prices weakened by Rs 10 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today due to reduced industrial offtake.

Elsewhere, other commodities traded in a tight range on alternate bouts of trading and settled around previous levels.

Traders said reduced industrial offtake against adequate stocks mainly led to decline in maize prices.

In the national capital, Maize weakened by Rs 10 to Rs 1,000-1,010 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:

Wheat MP (deshi) 1,650-1,765, wheat dara (for mills) 1,315-1,320 chakki atta (delivery) 1,320-1,325, atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 175, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 175, Roller flour mill 690-710 (50 kg), Maida 770-800 (50 kg) and Sooji 790-810 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, Super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 5,600-5,700, rice Pusa-(1121) 4,200-5,000, Permal raw 1,800-1,850, Permal wand 1,950-2,100, Sela 2,100-2,155 and Rice IR-8 1,670-1,695, Bajra 790-800, Jowar yellow 880-980, white 1,800-1,850, Maize 1,000-1,010, Barley (UP) 1,230-1,250 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
