Mentha oil down 0.36% on profit-booking

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Mentha oil futures prices today fell by Rs 6.40 to Rs 1,528.30 per kg, as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid a weak trend at spot market due to sluggish demand.

Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, also weighed on mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in March declined by Rs 6.40, or 0.41%, to Rs 1,528.30 per kg in a business volume of 88 lots, while February delivery prices fell by Rs 5.60 or 0.36%, to Rs 1,520.10 per kg, with a trading volume of 626 lots.

The April contract eased by Rs 2.40, or 0.15%, to Rs 1,528 per kg, in a business turnover of 34 lots.

The fall in mentha oil futures prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators and a weak trend at spot market on subdued demand, traders said.
