Potato up 0.3% as demand picks up

Amid pick up in spot demand, triggered by the ongoing marriage season, potato prices rose by Rs 2.10 to Rs 720 per quintal in futures trade today.
Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend in potato futures.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April contract added Rs 2.10, or 0.29%, to Rs 720 per quintal, with a business turnover of 17 lots.
The March contract edged up by Rs 1.20, or 0.16%, to Rs 732.80 per quintal, with a business turnover of 149 lots.
Analysts said a pick up in demand in the spot market in view of the marriage season amid decline in arrivals from producing regions mainly led to a rise in potato prices at futures trade.
