Power scrips jump up on policy booster

Power sector stocks spiked up following the Union Cabinet's clearance for the National Electricity Policy. In a subdued market, PSU power equipment major BHEL gained nearly 4 per cent to close at Rs 787.55, Tata Power was up 3.39 per cent to Rs 392.10 while Reliance Energy stock gained 0.41 per cent to close at Rs 562.95.
 
Other power and power-related stocks such as Crompton Greaves was up 10.92 per cent to Rs 330, Ahmedabad Electricity was up 9.40 per cent to Rs 147.80, CESC was up 5.52 per cent to Rs 179.60 and Alstom Projects was up 6.43 per cent to Rs 144.
 
Even the second rung power companies joined the rally. Jyoti Structures jumped 11 per cent to Rs 155.65, Alstom Power rose 5 per cent to Rs 142 and Bharat Bijlee gained 5 per cent to Rs 2,610.75, ABB gained 2.6 per cent to Rs 1,021, Kalpataru Power gained 1.8 per cent to Rs 231 and Siemens gained 1.6 per cent to Rs 1,385.
