Robusta rates go up by Rs 50 to Rs 100

Robustas on sale at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction on Thursday attracted good demand from roasters and saw prices appreciating by Rs 50 to 100 per bag (50 kg).

According to auctioneer Carritt Moran and Company, Arabica Cherry main grades attracted good export queries with prices at last week's levels, while Arabica Plantations did not get many takers.

Of the 476 tonnes ( Arabica comprised 363 tonnes and Robusta 113 tonnes) offered for sale, 140 tonnes were sold. Following were the prices quoted for grades in 50kg bags:

Arabica varieties: Arabica Plantation PB Rs 6,601 (quantity sold 2,830 kg), Arabica Plantation MNEB Rs 5,500 (5,995 kg), Arabica Plantation B Rs 4,800 (1,725 kg), Arabica Plantation C Rs 4,550 (326 kg), Arabica Plantation BBB Rs 3,441 (369 kg), Arabica Cherry PB Rs 4550 (1,000 kg), Arabica Cherry AA Rs 4,850 (4,300 kg), Arabica Cherry A Rs 4,571 (26,450 kg), Arabica Cherry B Rs 4,225 (2,594 kg), Arabica Cherry C Rs 3,506 (6,533 kg) and Arabica Cherry BBB Rs 3,409 (7,357 kg).

Robusta varieties: Robusta Parchment PB Rs 4,250 (1,995 kg), Robusta Parchment RKR Rs 4,798 (3,555 kg), Robusta Parchment AB Rs 4,700 (7,670 kg), Robusta Parchment C Rs 3,808 (4,950 kg), Robusta Parchment BBB Rs 3,538 (1762 kg). Robusta Cherry AB Rs 3,850 (33,529 kg), Robusta Cherry BBB Rs 3,546 (15,266 kg).
