Sensex down 276pts; Satyam spurts 1%

The Sensex is now down 276 points at 14,263.

Hindalco has plunged over 12% to Rs 152. Reliance Energy and Reliance Communications have slipped around 4% each to Rs 533 and Rs 458, respectively.

ICICI Bank has shed 3.5% to Rs 958. BHEL, Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro and Ranbaxy have declined 3% each to Rs 2,425, Rs 878, Rs 1,665 and Rs 405, respectively.

Satyam has spurted 1% to Rs 473.

Out of 2,535 stocks traded so far, 2,244 have declined, 273 have advanced and 18 are unchanged.
