Sensex ends down 22 pts

The Sensex ended (provisional) at 17916 - down 22 points. Nifty ended (provisional) down five points at 5,380.

Markets have once again broken into green on buying in consumer durables and FMCG stocks.

The Sensex has recovered 100 points from its low and is now up 21 points at 17,958. Nifty is flat at 5,386.

BSE consumer durables index has added 1% to 5,182. FMCG, IT and metal indices have added marginally.

Hindustan unilever has gained 1.7% at Rs 262. Tata Steel has added 1.5% to Rs 513.

Tata Motors, ACC and Wipro are up 1% each. TCS is at Rs 781 ahead of its results.

Meanwhile, Reliance Communications has dropped 1.2% to Rs 184. ONGC, Maruti and Bharti Airtel are down 1% each.
