Sensex up 23pts; Tata Steel, JP Asso firm

The NSE Nifty is up four points at 5,094.

Tata Steel has surged 2.7% to Rs 799. Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 256.

Ranbaxy has moved up 1.4% to Rs 486.

Bharti Airtel has slipped over 2% to Rs 907. BHEL and Infosys are down over 1% each to Rs 1,847 and Rs 1,644, respectively.
