Sensex up 243pts; ICICI Bank zooms 10%

The Sensex is now up 243 points at 8,403.

ICICI Bank has zoomed 9.5% to Rs 288. Sterlite has soared nearly 8% to Rs 264.

Maruti and Tata Motors have rallied around 6.5% each to Rs 692 and Rs 146, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has gained 6% at Rs 230. Reliance Communications has moved up 5.3% to Rs 139.

ITC and Reliance have advanced over 4.5% each to Rs 165 and Rs 1,209, respectively.

Hindalco, Sun Pharma and Infosys have added around 4% each to Rs 40, Rs 1,018 and Rs 1,244, respectively.

TCS, ACC, BHEL and Tata Steel are the other major gainers.

 

Bharti Airtel has plunged over 4% to Rs 563. Tata Power has slipped 1.7% to Rs 613.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,390 stocks traded so far, 1,177 have advanced, 1,119 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
