Continuing its good recent performance, the small-cap space has been doing well this morning. This space has added a little over one percent at 8921, as against the Sensex's modest returns of 0.2%. The small-cap index opened at 8943, which also happened to be the day's low, and has touched a high of 9017 thus far.
The market breadth in the small-cap space is extremely positive; Out of 481 stocks, there are 368 advancing stocks as against 90 declines. Ten stocks have not seen any change in prices and 13 have not been traded at all.
Shilpa Medicare has spurted by 17.8% at Rs 339. Among the other key gainers, Apar Industries has soared by 7% at Rs 248 and Sical Logistics has added 6.7% at Rs 94. Welspun India, Nesco and Zuari Industries are the other major gainers.
The small-cap index touched a 52-week high of 9118 on January 19 this year and a yearly low of 3482 on April 8 last year. This space has added 6.1% over the past one week and month.
