Sugar firms up on retail buying

Sugar prices firmed up at the Vashi wholesale market here today on the back of fresh buying from stockists and retailers.

Small sugar (S-30) rose by Rs 15 per quintal to Rs 2,601/ 2,651 from its overnight closing level of Rs 2,586/2,651.

Medium sugar (M-30) also gained Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 2,651/2,801 as against Rs 2,641/2,801 yesterday.

The following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets: 

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,601/2,651 (Rs 2,586/2,651)
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,651/2,801 (Rs 2,641/2,801
